THINGS I’M LOVING LATELY – ACTIVE TRAVEL STYLE

January 11, 2024 by Lee Hersh Leave a Comment

THINGS I’M LOVING LATELY – ACTIVE TRAVEL STYLE

Yo hey der friends (at least that’s what we say in Minnesota). Today’s post has been a long one in the making! As you know- I love and cherish going on active vacations because 1. I can’t sit still for longer than an hour and 2. it’s just what I’ve always done. I’d much rather be canoeing or hiking than laying on a beach (don’t get me wrong, I like this too!). Over the years I’ve collected and used products products during my active travel that make life SO MUCH BETTER. Thought I’d lay em’ all out and share what I’m swooning over when it comes to active travel.

TRAVEL OUTFIT

Because every one has a go-to travel outfit…er at least I do! Almost every time I fly, I wear a rendition of this outfit. You will most likely NEVER find me traveling in jeans because why in the world would I do that? Lightweight pants (like these) + a looser fitting top (like this) + tennis shoes (LOVE THESE) are what I prefer to travel in. Even if it’s 100 degrees out, I will probably wear pants or crops because planes are cold. A little packing tip I’ve learned is to always wear your tennis shoes to save space in your luggage! Plus, you never know if you’re going to need to run to your gate.

THINGS I’M LOVING LATELY – ACTIVE TRAVEL STYLE

KAVU ROPE SLING BAG

I’ve been a huge Rope Sling Bag fan since college when I bought my first one. I love this bag for a few reasons: 1. It’s super comfortable 2. It fits close to your body. 3. There’s lots of pockets. and 4. You can fit a ton of stuff in there! This is an ideal bag for active travel because you literally just strap it to your body and you’re good to go!

THINGS I’M LOVING LATELY – ACTIVE TRAVEL STYLE

HYDRO FLASK WATER BOTTLE

This is the most legit water bottle I have ever purchased. YOU GUYS. It keeps things cold for 24 hours (EVEN ICE) and keeps things super hot for up to 8. I actually got this for Mark for his birthday and stole it back because I love it so much! It’s a great vessel for both coffee and chilled white wine It’s nice to be able to have a water bottle to fill up at the airport instead of paying $5 for a plastic water bottle.

LIGHT PANTS/CAPRIS!

I just got two new pairs of lightweight pants and I AM OBSESSED. After trying on like 100 pairs, I went with the Athleta La Viva Capri and the Lululemon Om Pant (currently on sale!). I have a couple of other pairs of pants/capris similar to these and I absolutely love them. They are super breathable and easy to travel in. I much prefer these over jeans if you ask me Oh and how could I forget about my favorite pair of zip-off pants from Prana —> The Convertible Cargos. That’s right, I still wear zip-offs because when you’re on an active travel trip, you never know when the weather could turn!

THINGS I’M LOVING LATELY – ACTIVE TRAVEL STYLE

KEEN NEWPORT SANDALS

I love love loveeeee my Keens! This must be my third pair and I just can’t get enough. These are great shoes to wear for both hiking and canoeing/kayaking. They’re super comfortable and easy to take on and off. Other shoes that I typically bring on active vacations are: a pair of trail/running shoes that can double as a trail shoe and an exercise shoe. I recently purchased these Merrells and just love them.

LULU SWIFTLY TECH LONG SLEEVE

I am all about lightweight clothes and this is why I love the swiftly tech line at Lulu. I have a few short sleeves as well as a few long sleeves and they are great to wear when hiking or traveling. Sometimes I throw them on over a tank and other I wear them with a vest. Super comfortable and the thumb holes rock.

THINGS I’M LOVING LATELY – ACTIVE TRAVEL STYLE

SPECK CELL PHONE CASE

After 3 years of stuffing my credit cards in the back of my phone case, I finally invested in a legit case that is meant to not only protect your phone but hold your cards. I am the type of girl who would rather not carry a purse on a daily basis, so this is not only great for travel, but also my every day. I love this because it fits up to 3 cards. Usually I carry my business card, Southwest card, and license. Got mine from Target in case you are wondering.

THINGS I’M LOVING LATELY – ACTIVE TRAVEL STYLE

MOUNTAIN HARDWARE RAINCOAT

Ever been caught hiking in a rainstorm WITHOUT a rain jacket? Yah that’s happened to me before, but only once. Since then…I always make sure to bring along my favorite lightweight rain coat. Since I got it a few years ago, I don’t remember the exact make and model, but it looks close to this one! This jacket has gone through a lot and I love it. It’s light enough to be able to pack in a small bag and durable enough to keep the water OUT.

THINGS I’M LOVING LATELY – ACTIVE TRAVEL STYLE

WORKOUT BANDS/TRX

Since I’ve never been on a 16 day vacation (on my own), I am excited to bring along some workout bands and TRX. My trainer Drew from Switch Minneapolis is letting me borrow his TRX Go trainer that we can throw up on any door. While I’ll probably only workout a few times while we are away, I’m still pretty pumped to use this!

There are legit so many more things I wanted to include in this post. I’d love to hear from you about your favorite active travel products!

Albion Fit Clothing Giveaway!

March 25, 2023 by Lee Hersh Leave a Comment

Good news! It’s giveaway time! I know, it’s been way too long but I promise I’m here to redeem myself.

Albion Shirt Giveaway - My Little Celebration!

I was recently contacted by the lovely folks at Albion Women’s Apparel to do a giveaway for Y-O-U! Albion is a unique (and affordable!) clothing company specializing in women’s fitness attire and swimwear, as well as workout clothing. Given the option of a few items, I chose one that I could sport outside of the gym.

The item up for grabs? This super comfy, casual grey long-sleeve crew that I am officially obsessed with. Trust me, you want this shirt.

Albion Shirt Giveaway - My Little Celebration

If you know me in real life then you’ve probably grown seriously concerned for how frequently I’ve worn this shirt since receiving it a couple weeks back. The day it arrived I ripped open the package and put it on right away. Instant love.

What I immediately loved about the shirt was how comfy it was, how the crew neck flattered my neck-line and face shape, and how it was long enough to give it an almost “dressy” feel.

Albion Giveaway my little celebration

Since receiving my shirt I’ve dressed it down – as you can see here with some boyfriend-fit jeans and a ponytail – and dressed it up with dark denim leggings, rider boots, and a blue cardigan over top. I even wear it around the house as a comfy sleep shirt! Because of its fit, shape and neutral color, it’s so versatile that I feel I could wear it anywhere.

Albion Shirt Giveaway My Little Celebration

Here are the details: To enter to win a long-sleeve black, white OR grey crew of your own, simply like Albion Fit on Facebook, visit their website and “PIN” your favorite item, and then leave a comment below with the link to your pin!

I’ll be running this giveaway through Saturday evening and will announce one winner Sunday, March 17. What a fantastic way to kick off your spring break. Good luck!

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone for participating! Maeve is my winner! I’ve emailed you to get your size/color preference.

Hot in San Francisco + Brunch at Greens Restaurant

February 26, 2023 by Lee Hersh Leave a Comment

I know. It’s supposed to be Cleveland but this insane heat wave came over the Bay Area this weekend and completely wrecked my plans to get my first Pumpkin Spice Latte. Actually, I’m sitting at Starbucks as I type this, waiting for the next hour that I am on call to pass so that I can go home and relax. {hallelujah}

Because it is ridiculously hot outside, I had to get my pumpkin fix from a La Boulange reduced fat pumpkin cheesecake loaf.

IMG_2958[1]

La Boulange is a French bakery here in the Bay Area that Starbucks has partnered with to make some of their baked items. Have any of you seen their goods at your local Starbucks? It was my first pumpkin treat of the season and it was delicious. I’m hoping to recreate something similar for the blog soon.

On Saturday, Brandon and I had plans to go watch the Texas A&M game at a local Aggie bar in the Marina District of San Francisco and the weather was surprisingly sunny and warm without a cloud {or sign of Karl} in the sky.

IMG_2969[1]

IMG_2977[1]

Unfortunately for us, the America’s Cup boat racing event was going on so it took us almost an hour to find parking (which later turned out to be a complete disaster). Gotta love driving in the city!

Before the game, we had plans to have brunch together at a vegetarian restaurant in San Francisco that I’ve had my eye on for a while.

IMG_2970[1]

Greens is located in Fort Mason in the Marina District and their dining room has a beautiful view of the bay.

IMG_2973[1]

IMG_2974[1]

IMG_2971[1]

We were there around 2pm but I would love to go back for dinner to see the bay at sunset.

By the time we got there, I was starving so I ordered granola with yogurt to satisfy the hangry as quickly as possible.

IMG_2976[1]

I also ordered the Yellow Fin Potato Griddle Cakes with eggs over hard and almond-parsley pesto.

IMG_2972[1]

Brandon had the Fig and Caramelized Onion Pizza with goat cheese, asiago, walnuts and sage.

IMG_2965[1]

His was amazing and it reminded me of Amy’s fig pizza that I was drooling over last week. SO good.

After scarfing down our food, we literally jogged to the bar to make it there before kickoff. However, I had to stop to get a shot of the pretty flowers along the way.

IMG_2964[1]

I really wish I had time to get more pictures to show you what a beautiful neighborhood the Marina district is. Brandon and I are not keen on the idea of city living but we both agreed if we had to live anywhere in the city, we would love to live there.

Luckily, we made it Monaghan’s with about ten minutes to spare before the game started. Whoop!

IMG_2963[1]

There were a ton of Aggies there and we saw a few familiar faces from the BBQ. We also met some new people as well; two of which actually lived in College Station still.

IMG_2962[1]

Bar lighting makes for an awesome picture! Ha.

There was also a Plant Café right around the block from Monaghan’s so we stopped in to get a couple of juices and tempeh sandwiches to go.

IMG_2966[1]

What? You don’t drink organic juice after a night at the bar? Oh.

Anyway, I opted for the Healthy Sunrise which is made from carrots, beets, oranges, apples and lemon and Brandon got a spicy red juice with some spicy veggies or something.

IMG_2960[1]

Tempeh burgers in hand, we walked to the car only to find that it was no longer there. {Sigh} It had been towed because they said we were blocking someone’s driveway (literally by an inch-I think the parking police were just trying make money) so we had to grab a taxi to where it had been towed. Six hundred dollars plus a hundred dollar parking citation later {I wish I was kidding}, we drove home over the bay bridge feeling a teensy bit depressed.

IMG_2967[1]

Lesson learned: leave an extra hour early to find parking and be 100% sure that you are not even a smidgeon in front of a driveway.

Although parking turned out to be a complete nightmare, we still returned home safe and sound to our precious Coco which allowed us to realize that in the grand scheme of life, none of that really matters. Besides, I think I have officially made every parking mistake possible in the city so it can only go up from here, right?

Well, I’m hoping to have a nice dinner and then get in bed early so I can read my book. I know, I’m so exciting.

Have a great day!

Is the weather cooling off by you?

Would you rather live in the city or the suburbs?

The Nordstrom Anniversary sale starts today. Get first dibs on all sale items and follow Fit Foodie Finds for the next couple weeks to check out our favorites!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally here! You guys, if you follow my style posts or my Instagram, you know that over the last year Nordstrom has become one of my staple places to shop. Nordstrom has such an amazing variety of designers and price ranges and I can always find what I’m looking for at a great price. I usually end up buying these at full price because quality > quantity in my opinion, but you guys know I can’t pass up a good deal which is why I’m pumped for this sale!

I’ll keep it short and sweet. If you love a good deal on quality products, shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

Why the heck am I telling you this? I wanted to give you a heads up on how to take advantage of the deals and that Linley and I will be heading to the Nordstrom pre-sale tomorrow and then highlighting our favorite products on Instagram and Facebook for the duration of the sale. Have we been paid by Nordstrom or received free product? The answer…NO. I want to make sure I come out and say this because I think it’s important. Fit girls have very specific body types and often times it’s hard to find clothes that fit just right. That’s why I take it to the blog with my fashion posts to share the love. If I find a pair of pants that fit my big booty or a bra that secures the girls in, I want to tell everyone about it! If the products I’m talking about are on sale…even better!

What else should you know?

Important Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Dates

  • Thursday, July 13th– Early Access Sale Begins

Things I’m Loving Lately – Fall Transition Style

February 22, 2023 by Lee Hersh Leave a Comment

If you read our last post, Linley really spelled out my feelings about transitioning into Fall. Grab the Kleenex, people. When the first colored leaf hits, I still get the willies that school is starting and winter is right around the corner. What a nostalgic time of year. With that said, I will give it to the state of Minnesota for having one of the most AMAZING falls in The States. We are lucky enough to have 4 legit seasons and Fall is hands down the most beautiful. Gotta love when you go to L.A. in October and people are wearing coats and boots when it’s still in the 80’s. Here in MN, we ACTUALLY have sweater weather. This makes shopping really fun…because it gives you an excuse to have 4 mini wardrobes for all of the seasons.

Here are some of my favorite style pieces for fall transition style! In this post you'll find links to jeans, tops, sweaters, accessories, and dresses!

As you know, I am basically a weather woman…and this year friends, I am predicting quite a lovely fall in Minnesota. This means us Midwesterners gotta be all about those transition pieces. How can you turn a summer outfit into something more fall-like? I want to chat about the outfit I am wearing in these photos because it really is the PERFECT transition outfit.

I want to start with the kimono because I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I feel like it can totally fall up any outfit especially classic white tea. This Kimono is BP from Nordstrom. I also picked up a white tee from Nordstrom that I’m obsessed with. It’s only $25 — the Treasure and Bond Boyfriend Tee. Moving down the outfit you’ve got some black high-rise Madewell skinnies + my new favorite booties on the planet. I actually got these during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so they were a steal. So pumped to finally start wearing them this fall! They also have them in brown which I am tempted to also buy.

Places I’ve been shopping lately include Nordstrom, Madewell, JCrew Factory, Stitch Fix, and Abercrombie. I Feel like 2 of those stick out a bit– Stitch Fix and Abercrombie. It’s been a white since I shared a Stitch Fix on FFF because I was striking out every time I got a box. After like a year break, I finally decided to vie them a try again and have been loving it! I’m planning on sharing my latest fix on the blog soon. Abercrombie. Guys, this may sound weird but I have been loving A&F. Ever since Linley and I went into the Mall of America store last Spring, I’ve been keeping an eye on them and they’re clothes are 1. pretty damn cute and 2. reasonably priced. They almost always have a sale going on, so nothing is ever really full priced! I highly recommend you check it out. I just got this shirt (see below) there that everyone has been raving over on IG.

With that said, I’ve pulled some pieces that I either currently have or that are on my wish list for this year! Skinnies, boyfriend shirts, and booties…never go out of style! Please and thanks.

Here are some of my favorite style pieces for fall transition style! In this post you'll find links to jeans, tops, sweaters, accessories, and dresses!

PANTS/JEANS

Praise the lawd that skinny mid-rise jeggings are still in because they are all I wear. For once in fashion history, I think trend jeans actually fit my body! Anyone with a booty and thighs knows that the mid-rise fit is a godsend and jeggings…need I say more?

SHOES

As I was scrolling through shoes online, I realized I was saving mostly booties and mules. I like to keep my shoes pretty neutral such as beige, browns, and blacks so that they go with everything in my closet. Here’s some of my favs right now.

TOPS/SWEATERS

When it comes to tops I’m all about comfort. I am also all about that front tuck. This year I’m planning on wearing a lot of slouchy tees, front tie blouses, and of course, plaid shirts! I’m also loving the super long cardigan look.

DRESSES/ROMPERS

Dresses that hit me at my waist are my jam. Not going to lie, dresses are tough for me because I have to figure out how to balance my boobs without making them look frumpy or buy a dress that’s skin tight (no always comfortable!). I tend to gravitate towards solid, darker dresses, but this year I want to get riskayyyy and go pattern or floral.

ACCESSORIES/BAGS

Living in Minnesota, I am all about that scarf. I almost always have on in my bag just in case it gets cold! I’m still loving blanket scarfs and ascots. As for bags, leather me up! I’ve been on the lookout for a leather backpack purse and I think I found a few contenders.

Alright friends your turn. What are you most excited to wear for fall? What good style finds have you found recently?
