I meant to do a Farmer’s Market post this week, but just didn’t have time. We got so much fruit for a measly buck this week: strawberries, cantaloupe, honey dew, and pineapple. We also got a ginormous bag of white peaches for like $2.00.
Bulk fruit means one of two things. 1.) I’m eat peaches for breakfast, lunch, and dinner…OR 2.) I’m digging my dehydrator out of storage, because lets face it…I don’t use it nearly enough.
Dehydrating fruit is a pretty simple process. All you have to do is first peel the peaches (if they are ripe, they should peel pretty easily) and then slice uniformly. Finally, plop them on the trays and viola. I completely forgot to squeeze some lime juice on the peaches to prevent them from browning, but they kept their color quite nicely.
I turned the dehydrator to high, which is around 155 degrees. Every hour for about 6-7 hours, give them a flip…
They should turn out like this…They had a very similar texture to TJ’s Dried Mangoes.
Sweet and delicious.
And very much so nutritious. No sugar or sulfer added! As good as can be!
Peaches aren’t the only thing I’ve dried….
I’ve done cherries…
and apples too…
Anyways, guess what came in the mail today?
The Adobe Suite!! Wooot Wooot! I was still able to use my student discount from the U of M and get it for almost 90% off the retail price. What would I do without Photoshop and Illustrator?
What is your all time favorite dried fruit?
Do you have any kitchen gadgets that you don’t use nearly enough?
