DIY Holiday in a Jar: Peppermint Bath Salt

Looking for a festive holiday gift to make your friends and family this year? Make this easy Peppermint Bath Salt to sooth your sore muscles. It’s flavored with essential oils and colored with pomegranate juice!

All I have to say is that Davida’s puppy Rhett gives me MAJOR puppy fever. He is the cutest, most snugglyest, well-behaved pup I’ve ever met! I am and have always been a dog person. Growing up my family had 2 dogs- Lady and Zoe. Lady was an Australian Shepherd/Lab mix and Zoe was a Black Lab. Today- my parents have two dogs: Matza and Sasha. Matza is a German Shepherd Mix and Sasha is a Yellow Lab. Even though I don’t live with my parents, I consider their dogs my sisters. Why? Because I truly believe that Sasha is me in dog form 😛

After the breakup this summer, I thought long and hard about getting a dog of my own. Thennnn I realized my travel schedule is out of control and that it’s probably in my best interest to let life settle down a bit before biting the bullet and becoming a puppy mommy. Le sigh. Just because I’m not going to get a dog RIGHT NOW, doesn’t mean that I have stopped brainstorming what I’m going to name my first born dog 😀 #mylipsaresealed

Sooooooooo let’s talk BATH SALTS. Guys- this is FFF’s first true DIY post that isn’t food! I’ve got a solid collection of Aura Cacia Essential Oils that I use for different purposes and I thought it would be fun to create a DIY in a jar gift idea this holiday season that incorporates an essential oil. Insert —> peppermint. Here’s a $1.00 off coupon for ANY Aura Cacia Essential Oil. DO IT.

If you or anyone you know has sore muscles from tough workouts- then you HAVE to make this bath salt! I try and take at least one bath a week so that I can let my muscles let go and relax a bit. I love adding both epsom salt and essential oils to my bath to help sooth my sore muscles. YES PLEASE.

This recipe only calls for 4 ingredients: peppermint essential oil, epsom salt, coarse grain sea salt, and pomegranate juice (for the color!). That’s right, ditch the food coloring and use juice in order to get festive!

Holiday DIYs in a Jar (3): Peppermint Bath Salt

  1. In a large bowl, mix together 3 cups of epsom salt, 1 cup of sea salt, and 20 drops of Peppermint Essential Oils. Then, remove half from the bowl and place in another bowl.
  2. Add 2 teaspoons of pomegranate juice to one of the bowls and mix. If you want it darker, add another teaspoon.
  3. Layer 2 jars with white and pink all the way until you reach the top of both jars.

*This makes 2 18 0z. jars
**Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. This recipe IS perishable because of the pomegranate juice!

You need this in your life.

And so do all of your workout buddies.

If you are a dog mama or auntie…head on over to The Healthy Maven and get your bake on! How freaking adorable are these Grain-Free Sweet Potato Dog Treats? I’m totally making a batch of these bad boys for Matza and Sasha. I might have to eat on myself 😛 #sorrynotsorry
